About the organization

Missions Agency / Non-Profit

Founded in eastern DRC by Congolese orthopedic surgeon, Jo Lusi, and his wife, Lyn, along with Dr. Paul and Macky Groen, HEAL Africa partners proactively with communities in DR Congo to transform communities. Through its training hospital in Goma and its community-based initiatives in public health, community development, gender/justice advocacy, and conflict resolution, HEAL Africa works with individuals and communities to restore health, build hope, and help create a better future for all people of the DR Congo. HEAL Africa helps support a Congolese staff of about 340 persons including 25 doctors, 70 nurses, many community development advocates and educators, a small administrative team, and numerous Congolese volunteers. The 200-bed hospital is one of only three referral hospitals in the DR Congo. It provides general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN (including fistula repair), pediatrics, internal medicine and family medicine.
