Helping Hand for Survivors is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization based in the State of Kentucky (US) and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. EIN number 83-1855559. Helping hand for survivors was funded by two Congolese war survivors Dr. Jean Claude Luhere and Kashoro Nyenyezi who felt the need, through pastoral activities, to help vulnerable females dealing with sexual trauma, harassment and arbitrary arrests after the war, and the unwanted children (from rape ) suffering with malnutrition and other diseases due to the lack of health care, clean water, nutritious food and poverty in general. Helping Hand for Survivors takes up the challenges of other Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the government, which claimed to support these forgotten people and act on their behalf, while they don’t. It is in this perspective that HHS was born in 2012 in Bukavu, South Kivu.
