About the organization

Member Organization

My name is Matthew Hawkins.  I've been working with Medical Campus Outreach in Charleston, SC for 13 years.  I organize and lead overseas healthcare trips to underserved locations globally.  We have taken trips to Romania, Thailand, South Africa, Morocco, Costa Rica, and more through the years.

In 2020 the Rosani Lens Project became an official non-profit organization.  It was dreamed up by Dr. Ben Thomas, an ophthalmologist and friend in Jacksonville, FL.  He and I serve on the Rosani board with 4 other Christian believers that hope this tool will be used to spread God's love around the world in a practical and much needed way.  The goal of Rosani is to provide what's needed for teams to build new custom eyeglasses for patients overseas in underserved areas around the globe.  We train individuals and teams in giving visual acuity tests and the process of building the Rosani glasses while on site.

Rosani has been growing since 2020 and has been taken by 31 teams in the past two years to countries on 5 continents globally.  We feel like the GMHC would be a great way to connect with people & teams that are looking for ways to help the world through healthcare.
